What influences conversion transfer Price Points

In seeking out a film and video conversion transfer service provider you have realized there is more to transferring video to a disc and authoring a DVD is completely different than recording video on tape as the process is time consuming and requires doing more than pressing the record button.   There is differences between video recorded on a DVD and video authored on a DVD.

Authored DVD with its interactive menus and chapter point has become the preferred video format to watch in the home.  However, getting video onto DVD requires the conversion of video from a tape format into a MPEG-2 digital file that fits on the disc.  If the video comes from an analog tape format such as VHS, the video first has to be converted into a digital format so it can be stored, edited, and manipulated by a computer before being encoded and compressed into the MPEG-2 file format expected by all DVD players.

Recorded or copied video to a disc is similar to video recorded to the tape as any menu has limited interactivity with the video and any navigation is either fast scan forward and back, or jump to chapter points automatically inserted every few minutes and have limited benefit even basic editing can provide.   A recorded transfer is usually done automatically with no involvement of any manual editing.

An authored DVD results in a digital video having unwanted sequences of overexposed, underexposed, and unintended video recorded because the camcorder was not turned off when it was put down being edited out and perhaps still photos, voiceovers, narration and background music added.

A typical transfer of putting video from a tape onto DVD does benefit from some basic editing of raw footage even if it is to only to create interactive menu providing chapter navigation to pertinent event or subject change.

Putting a digital video onto a DVD disc requires knowing the combined video, audio, menus will fit on the disc and that the video content is compressed according to narrowly defined specifications so that the resulting disc will play reliably on the widest range of players.

Although improving technology results in providing lower cost entry level editing devices and software, many individuals lack the conviction to learn how to use the equipment and software or the willingness to commit the time required for encoding and burning an MPEG file onto a disc.

The conversion transfer of video to DVD done by CY Technical & Professional Services is not an automated process.  The unit price points advertised reflect the time involved in doing the project and the costs of other economic factors for the typical work done to result in generating fair compensation for the hours worked and the investment in devices, software and supplies needed to do the project.  If you have a large quantity project please email us for a quote, please inform of how much film, video, film, photos, and other material you are providing and what you are expecting to result from the work you would like us to do for you.
